Happy Clients

"Thanks to Abby and Fitness is Medicine for bringing me back from two knee replacements and 12 years of inactivity! Due to other medical conditions, I was afraid to resume working out on my own. After finishing physical therapy for my second knee replacement, I was fortunate enough to start training with Abby.

Having had trainers in the past, I wanted someone who could do more than shout out my reps. (I still can count to 15 on my own!) I needed someone who could work with me to tailor a program that wouldn’t aggravate my injuries, but also would challenge me.

Abby carefully began a program personalized for me. She gently coached and encouraged me in exercise and counseled me on diet. As part of her program, she tracked my blood pressure, oxygen level, and heart rate.

As a result of her training, my blood pressure has decreased, my weight has decreased, and my resting heart rate has decreased. The only things that have increased are my oxygen levels – and my enthusiasm for the Colorado lifestyle. I have happily returned to activities I thought I never could do again - road cycling, snow shoeing, Nordic skiing, and, best of all, downhill skiing with my husband and friends. Thanks again Abby. *”

“Abby has been my exercise therapist for about 3 years, and I feel she’s about as good a person for that job as I could have found. I’m in my late 60s, trying to keep weight off and get in shape, and Abby seems well tuned-in to my needs. She’s very well-versed and resourceful in selecting exercises for me, and careful to tune them to my abilities.

Abby’s low-key but encouraging and upbeat manner helps me handle the stress of exercising. She has a good positive rapport with all her clients. She is attentive and conscientious — aware of my limitations, and always ready to give attention when needed. The overall effect is: I feel I’m in good hands with Abby, and I recommend her to anyone with a need to exercise with knowledgeable and caring supervision. *”

“I have Parkinson’s disease. Exercise and medication has helped me maintain a good quality of life for the past 10 years. When I was told that I needed a total knee replacement I worried about how the recovery would impact the Parkinson’s.

I decided to commit to a month and a half of one on one strength building exercises with Abby at Fitness is Medicine. My goal was to be able to recover from the knee surgery quickly and return to the exercises that help control the Parkinson’s.

Initially, I worked with Abby three times a week and then one time a week up to the week of the surgery. She planned exercises for me that helped to strengthen my upper body and quads and improve my balance and reflexes. I like the way she changed the exercises each session to keep it interesting. I also appreciate the fact that she focused on my goals while being sensitive to my limitations.

Post-surgery I met or exceeded my physical therapy goals. I feel strong and in control of my recovery process. And most importantly, in control of the Parkinson’s. *”

“I have been a client of Abby at Fitness is Medicine for 8 months. I wanted to lose weight and get in shape. Abby developed a program that has helped me work toward my goals. I have lost weight, my cholesterol is down significantly, my resting blood sugar is decreased, and the swelling in my legs has completely disappeared! In addition I’m stronger and have much more energy. She helped me set up my Fitbit and is so encouraging. This is a good life change for me, to be continued! *”

"As a former college athlete, I found myself terribly out of shape due to age and health problems.  I started seeing Abby after my first knee replacement and PT, and began working on whole body and core development.  She is amazing - my strength and overall fitness have improved, and i was much better prepared for my second knee replacement last month  I actually look forward to being in the gym!*"
